Barnhart was hired to remove and replace the gearbox and main shaft assembly on two Vestas V72 wind turbines. The team used a CC2600 crawler and a 75 Ton crane for tailing the rotor. The process required removal of nacelle top, rotor assembly, gearbox and main shaft.
Mobilization into the site was very difficult due to the rugged terrain and winter weather conditions. Despite all the challenges, the work was completed safely and to the complete satisfaction of the owner.
